The Acoustic Tent.
This was a new addition to the available live music spots at Bickerstock 2011! There was a small marquee, a short distance from the other 2 stages, where acoustic music could be played and listened to in a more informal, intimate setting. Singers/musicians could also use this space to warm up. There was no need to apply - musicians just came along. The audience just turned up too and saw what was happening. It was quite impromptu, although the players/singers from The Greyhound Session Group and The Derby Arms Folk Night Players all played.

Here's the word on the street about 3 long-standing Bickerstock friends/performers.....

Sheldon Blackman

Sheldon has been lending international support to the festival since its inaugural year and will once again be flying in from the Caribbean to join us for the 2009 festival. Considered one of the most exciting artists of recent times to have come out of Trinidad and Tobago, Sheldon continues in the ‘Soca’ and ‘Jamoo’ styles invented by his late great father Ras Shorty. His dynamic and powerful delivery draws comparisons with artists such as Sting, Eddy Grant and Bob Marley, but in Sheldon’s own words “ The music I share is like food for the soul. Call it what you like, I call it JAMOO!! Roots, urban, Caribbean, conscientious heartbeat music.”

Trez Fez

Local group "Trez Fez" are a Gypsy-inspired swing band with a difference! Now into their sixth year as a band, Trez Fez started life when Paul, Rob and Dave decided their love for Django Reinhardt just simply had to be expressed!!  A chance meeting at Dead Frog Studio saw the band increase from three to five members adding flute, piano accordion and vocals to the line up. They began performing a regular slot at the Beaufort Gypsy Jazz night in Ormskirk, playing a blend of Django Reinhardt classics and jazz standards. Their album, 'Undecided', is available for purchase. They have performed at a variety of events including weddings, pubs, bistros, birthday parties, sheltered accommodations and festivals. Trez Fez are available for bookings.

Davy Edge & Friends

Davy has been singing since he was five and his Dad taught him some ukulele and harmonica when he was nine. To cut a long story short, after two record deals and three publishing deals he has combined his love of music and theatre and ran music and acting in tandem. He has worked with Barbara Dickson, Rebecca Storm, Dean Friedman, Liverpool Express, Sonia, Bill Dees (who co- wrote 'Pretty Woman' with Roy Orbison), Jon Jorgeson, Brian Rawling, Rob Hart (who is in The Jones Gang and who is one of my favourite singers, a great guy and a joy to write songs with), and countless other people who have inspired him.  Davy's set will feature a number of 'friends'  - talented up and coming artists from the local area.

It's all good, plus local band - Red Men Don't Walk

The 2011 line-up showed great diversity and talent, there was music to suit all tastes.

It was all good, so be there next year!
